Smart pill with RFID microchips.



The first "smart" pill with embedded microchips  intends to market the pharmaceutical company  Novartis AG , which is awaiting authorization by the competent authorities.
The drug for which approval has been requested from the company given to patients receiving a transplant to not reject it.

According to Trevor Mountel, Head of Development, this idea can be applied to many other drugs.
The microchip is activated by the liquid in the stomach and sends information to a small patch that is stuck in the patient's skin, from which data is transmitted to a smartphone or reach the doctor via email.
As explained Mountel, the original idea was a smart pill to ensure that the patient received the drug at the right dose at the right time. In the long run, however, hopes the potential of smart pill be expanded so that the pill counting from the heart rate to body temperature, and the right action of drugs.
