The largest water lily in the world

The Victoria amazornica is the largest genus of water lilies in the world. You will find if you happen to travel to the shallow waters of the Amazon River. Its leaves reach up to 3 meters in diameter and can easily lift weight up to 70 pounds. The name comes from Queen Victoria of Britain, when first discovered by explorer Robert Schomburgk in 1836.
